She was born to laugh, love and dance. Born on Halloween in 1927 and described as the quintessential greatest generation woman, Lois Benton Johnson brought joy to her family and friends and to any stranger who encountered her. She worked constantly through pre and post World War ll. Through this time she developed an acquired high work ethic, that helped her family endure the challenges of the times. With those skills anew, she married Leland R. Johnson, had a son, Leland and a daughter, Linda. Few have ever worked so hard to make others happy, as cooking and entertainment became her vocation. She volunteered to be a Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout and a Brownie leader. Loved water skiing, fishing, golfing and most of all dancing. It is said that Lois would Polka and boogie with anyone still awake into the early hours of the morning. In her fifties she became a widow and retired from Cement Masons Union in 1989. Being a long time resident of Kansas City and Raytown, Missouri, Lois was known to do anything to support family and friends. Her holiday meals and parties became the anchor for her ever-growing family. The second half of her life even bettered the first part, as she became the World's Greatest Grandma Loie. Her claim to fame was playing boundless games with her grandchildren. Known favorite was "Shoot Em' Up", pretend, finger gun duels that was held throughout the house. She attended almost every grandchild's athletic and academic functions, laughing with the victories and crying with the losses. Age meant nothing to her as she participated in many adventures (ziplining, horseback riding and hiking) with her grandchildren in her later years of life.
Lois is survived by brother Dale Benton, son Leland R. Johnson Jr. (wife Luann), daughter Linda Pribyl (husband Rick) and grandchildren; Brad Johnson (wife Rachel), Lisa Barber (husband Kenneth), Skip Pribyl (wife Stephanie), Scott Pribyl (wife Jennifer), Sean Pribyl (wife Sylvia) Shea Pribyl (wife Lois), Davis Brecheisen (wife Lina), James Brecheisen, Patrick Pribyl. Great grandchildren; Zephyr, Hayden, Lila, Samuel, Zachary, Allyson, Adam, Austin, Alexis, Grace, Matilda, Ellington, Henry, Paige, Emma, Summer, Ryann and Lucas.
All who knew her, were better people as a result of her love, her generosity, and her thoughtfulness. Lois cannot be replaced; she defined that special generation.
