Lois Ann (Burnette) Campbell passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2016. She was born July 30, 1954 in Highland Park, MI to Dee and Doris Burnette. She married her best friend, Arthur “Dale” Campbell on May 22, 1973 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. Together they raised five children who she was very proud of and always willing to talk about.
Lois was known for her generosity, and made the Campbell home one where all were welcome and would be well fed. She proudly boasted about the “extra” children she helped raise including those she cared for during her years of in home daycare and those friends of her children that she adopted along the way. Lois had a passion for crafts and making things and many friends and family members have been the recipients of her handmade hats, quilts and blankets over the years. We will remember her for the tremendous sacrifices she made to ensure that we had a childhood filled with love, adventure, and more opportunities than she had. Her 15 grandchildren brought her great joy and have been her favorite conversation topic since she became a grandma. They always knew that at grandma’s house they would be spoiled with lots of treats.
She is survived by her children Chris (Kristine) Campbell of Los Angeles, CA, Steven (Tammi) Campbell of Bellevue, NE, David Campbell of Kansas City, MO, Beth (Phillip) Ervie of Warrensburg, MO and Scott (Ashley) Campbell of Kansas City, MO as well as 15 grandchildren who will miss their grandma/mema dearly. She is also survived by 3 sisters and a brother and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Dale, who she has missed tremendously since his passing last year. We are comforted by the thought of their joyous reunion in heaven. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5th from 6-8pm at McGilley Funeral Home at 3325 NE Vivion Rd. Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 6th at 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 5600 N. Jackson Ave. Kansas City, MO. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for memorial contributions to McGilley Funeral Home to help offset the cost of the funeral expenses.
Arrangements under the direction of McGilley Antioch Chapel, Kansas City, MO.
