Lisa was born to David & Sally Kennedy on August 3, 1976 in Manhattan, KS. After graduating from Blue Valley High School in 1994 she went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Emporia State University.
Lisa enjoyed several different careers in her lifetime but her family feels that she missed her calling as a private investigator as she could find out anything for anyone with her detective skills. Nothing compared to Lisa’s favorite job of all, being a mother. She welcomed a daughter, Emily, in 2003, and she felt that was when her life truly began.
Lisa was an avid reality tv show enthusiast and enjoyed traveling to anywhere that she could put her toes in the sand. She was a diehard Kansas State Football fan and was known to make last minute road trips with her father to watch their beloved Wildcats play. She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends who she adopted into her family with her open heart and welcoming spirit.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, David Kennedy (Overland Park, KS) and grandparents, Elbert & Beverly Kennedy (Ludington, MI) and Richard & Janyce Matthew (Concordia, KS) and her beloved dogs, Sissy and Hank. She is survived by a daughter, Emily Cloud (Olathe, KS), her mother, Sally Kennedy (Olathe, KS) and her sister Lori (Bryan) Lopez (Parkville, MO) and three nephews, Emmett, Joshua, and Jackson Lopez.
A visitation will be held at Mount Moriah, Newcomer, & Freeman Funeral Home and Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131 on Thursday evening, August 31, from 6:00 to 8:00. Services will be in the same location on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
Contributions in Lisa’s memory can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in hopes of someday finding a cure.
