It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lisa Carol Akers (Phillips) announce her passing on November 18, 2023 in Belton, Missouri. Lisa was born in El Paso, Texas on January 8, 1963. She spent most of her life as a Texan, but recently moved to Missouri to be near her children.
Lisa graduated from Ysleta High School in 1981. She pursued a degree in nursing from UTEP and later chased her dreams by becoming a nurse practitioner, graduating from UTEP College of Nursing in 1997. She was dedicated to her patients and was especially passionate about those who had been diagnosed with cancer and supporting their families.
Lisa was warm, compassionate, intelligent and incredibly motivated. Her family remembers her infectious laugh. She never knew a stranger and made fast friends with her wit and charismatic personality.
Lisa was an Elvis aficionado, which was only encouraged by the fact that they share a birthday. One of her fondest memories was visiting Graceland with her family. She was recently able to see an Elvis impersonator and was tickled when she was chosen from the crowd to receive his trademark white scarf.
Lisa loved nothing more than to go horseback riding with loved ones. She was most at peace and her smile was beaming when riding.
Lighthouses were symbolic to Lisa and several could always be found decorating her home. Undoubtedly, those rays of light are providing her safe passage to Heaven.
Lisa Carol Akers was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Phillips, and her father, Coy Phillips. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Emily and Joshua Lentz, as well as her son, Isaiah Akers and his significant other, Emily Recor; and her siblings, Roy Phillips, his wife Kay, Patricia Piñón, her husband Anthony, and their families.
Lisa left us much too soon and her family finds comfort knowing she was able to find peace and solace in her faith. The last weeks of Lisa’s life were among her happiest. She was joyous in spending time with her children and spoiling her (furry) grandchildren.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mtmoriah.net for the Akers family.
