Mrs. Lillian Bernice Steffen passed to the Lord on September 17, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 o’clock on Thursday, September 23rd at Nativity of Mary Parish, 10017 E. 36th Terr. S., Independence, MO 64052. A committal service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138.
Lillian was born August 24, 1940 in St. Paul, MN to Bernard and Virgie Lohr. She graduated from Blue Springs High School in Blue Springs, MO and finished her associates degree from Longview Community College in 1992. She was a diligent hard worker, and retired from AT&T in 2005.
Lillian authored 2 poetry books, one published, and she believed her poetry came from God. She wrote about family, friends, events and special times in her life. She was active in Nativity Catholic Church along with her husband Norman for 55 years, where she was passionate about singing in the choir, and in the Sounds of Joy choir. One of her greatest joys was having large slumber parties with her grandchildren.
Lillian is survived by her husband of 61 years, Norman Steffen and her children, Michael Steffen (Alison), Dawn Wiggins, Joseph Steffen (Tillie), Andrea Freeland (Tim), Catherine McMillin, and Christopher Steffen (Nicole); as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she greatly loved. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
