Enterprise and in the Korean War as a ground support fighter pilot on the U.S.S. Boxer. He was a combat flight instructor in Pensacola, Florida; served as the

After retiring from the Navy, Gene went to the Federal Aviation Agency in New York City as a flight inspector, transferring to Minneapolis in 1969 and then Kansas City in 1975, fully retiring in 1980. Gene was an officer and a gentleman. He was also a ripping punster, an adventurer and an artist. His wry sense of humor, vitality and ability to charm made him prized at any social gathering.
