LaVerne Eloise Doughty, 94, of Independence, MO passed away May 5, 2016. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10 am with visitation starting at 9 am at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery. LaVerne was born in Pleasant Hill, MO on April 28, 1922 to Helen Bertha (Simon) Schupp and Wm. Rudolph Schupp. She attended elementary and High School there and K.C. College of Commerce in Kansas City. She was married to Carl E. Doughty, Sr. and of this marriage 3 children were born, Carol A. Hinton (Chuck) of Clinton, MO and Dr. Carl E. Doughty, Jr. (Cheryl) of Palm Bay, FL and Marilyn D. Soulis (John) of Independence, MO; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Hinton and Brantley Hinton; 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; granddaughter, Debra Doughty; 4 sisters and 1 brother.
