Larry graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1959. Soon after, he joined the Navy. He served on the Ticonderoga as a radioman for three years. After that, he worked at Western Electric where he entered the tool and die program. He became a master composite mechanical analyst there. During his employment, he was responsible for fixing any and every machine inside the plant. He saw himself as equal with his female coworkers, which garnered him much respect from all the employees that worked there. In total, he worked at Western Electric for 36 years.
In 1973 Larry and Barbara moved from Independence to Lone Jack, Missouri where they built a home on 10 acres of land. Barbara continues to live there today with two dogs and three cats. In his free time, Laurence built radio controlled model airplanes, boats, and trains. He loved animals. At any point in time, the family owned at least two pets which were mostly dogs and cats, but also included horses and chickens as well.
Larry was extremely kind to everyone in his life. He loved his family and he exuded a joy to all that was unlike anyone else. His family will remember him for his beautiful singing voice, his jokes, and his ability to always make you smile no matter what. He will be deeply missed.
