Laura Allen McCorkendale, 95, of Kansas City, KS, passed away on March 22, 2014 at Golden Living Nursing Center, Edwardsville, KS. She was born in Smithville, OK, on December 22, 1918. She moved to Kansas City with her family when she was four years old.
Laura married Everett McCorkendale on February 29, 1936. They were married for 51 years. She was preceded in death by Everett, three sons Milford, Gene and Charles, and grandson Dwayne. She is survived by grandson Jeff McCorkendale, three great-granddaughters Brenna, Briana and Marsha McCorkendale, five great-great-grandchildren James, CJ, Sadie, Nevaeh and Michael, daughter-in-law Carol McCorkendale, and a special niece Julie Wright.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., followed by a graveside service in Mt. Moriah Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 6405 Metcalf, Ste. 204, Overland Park, KS 66202.
