Larry A. Hanks, 67, of Overland Park, KS, passed away July 6, 2012. Larry was born to Art and Phyllis Hanks on April 26, 1945 in Colorado Springs, CO. He was married for 40 years to his loving wife Mary. He was part owner of a wholesale building supply company for 25 years and a merchandise liquidation business for 12 years before retiring. He will be remembered most as a devoted father and husband. He was active in the Boy Scouts with his son and supported his daughter with her endeavors. He was a mentor, a never ending source of advice, knowledge and inspiration. He taught by example and set a standard to live by. He will be missed by the many souls he touched during his journey. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Scott and his “girl-friend-in-law” Nancy and daughter Tammy. Visitation will be held Wed. July 11 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd.
