L. Jeanne Barnhart, age 91, of Independence, MO, died June 11, 2017. Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00pm, Friday, June 16, at the chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, June 17, at the chapel with burial following at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Lois Jeanne was born in 1925 to Robert and Mildred (Strickland), at home in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Faxon-Ashland and Yeager grade schools and Central High School, graduating in 1943. She was united in marriage to Eugene Barnhart July, 28th 1946 at Jackson Ave. Baptist Church in Kansas City. She worked for Central Security Insurance from 1943-46 as an office clerk. She was a very active stay at home mother. In addition to her involvement with the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Gold Circle and being a Girl Scout leader, she was extremely dedicated to her churches. She was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church when she and Gene first married, and in 1958 found a long-time church home at Rockwood Baptist Church. She was a Womens Missionary Union member and leader, taught Sunday School, and was a church librarian. She enjoyed serving her church in any way she could from preparing meals to helping at the living nativity. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family, and loved playing ping pong and pool in her basement. She was a formidable and very competitive player into her 90s. She was very dedicated and faithful to her family always wanting to attend as many events, programs or things her grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in. She took many trips with the “Fun Time Tours” group. She traveled all around the Midwest with the group. She was a part of over 75 tours that the group did, all within the last 30 years of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Raymond Knox; son, Gerald Barnhart; sister, Dorothy Williams. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Cahill; grandchildren: Jay Barnhart, Jill Holloway, Jason Barnhart, Matthew Cahill; great grandchildren: Abby (Holloway) Byrd, Jordan Barnhart, Jonas Barnhart, Eli Barnhart, Devon Cahill, Mathew Cahill and Maddison Cahill.
