Kenneth Edward Howerton, 71, passed away October 14, 2016 at home visiting in Kansas City. Cremation service held 2pm at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL with visitation following at 2:30pm on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
Kenneth was born November 08, 1944 to Mildred H. Reese and Ray E. Howerton in Quincy, Illinois at Blessing Hospital. He graduated from Quincy Senior High in 1963 & was a member of the US Army from 1963 to 1964. He worked at Electric Wheel as a Welder and Union Foremen. He dearly loved his family and will be missed by all.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother & stepfather, Mildred & Earl Christner; his father, Ray Howerton; his first wife, Sandra Howerton, his daughter, Tisha Garrett and his son, Kelly VanDonge. He is survived by his current wife, Shirley Howerton of Waynesboro, TN; his children, Tina Howerton of Kansas City, MO, Tonya (Darren) Bullard of Mendon, IL, Tamara Howerton of Lee’s Summit, MO, Kevin (Shelly) VanDonge and Kim (Cory) Ganoe. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Travis Calhoun (Katie Larson), Ryan (Stephanie) Howerton, Stevie Lee (Cody) Bainter, Brandon Arnold, Rochelle Slater, Holly Bullard, Drew Bullard, Alex Smith (Allyssa Ruesta), Casandra Smith (Eric Anderson), Kaylynn Tompkins, Kayshia Marshall, Nicholas Howerton, Brittnie VanDonge, Cody Ganoe and Cory Ganoe Jr. His great grandchildren, Adrianna Calhoun, Brooklyn Jean Calhoun, Jaxson Sneed, Jordyn Howerton, Spencer Howerton, Rory Jean Bainter, Dorby Bainter, Jordyn Slater, Zoey Bullard, Chase Bullard, McKenzie Bullard, Malikai Smith and Ofilia Ruesta. Kenneth also leaves behind his sisters, Pat (Ray) Knuffman, Sharon Hemming and Sue (Dave) DeMoss; his brother, Louis Christner as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Kenneth's favorite bible verse was John 3:16 - For God so loved the world he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen.
