The son of Dr. and Mrs. Keith H. Averill was born in San Antonio, TX and lived nearly all of his life in the greater Kansas City area. Keith was a graduate of the Pembroke Country Day School, where he was valedictorian of the Class of 1975, and attended Yale University. He received his law degree from the University of Southern California. On returning to Kansas City he was a prosecuting attorney in the Jackson County District Attorney’s office and later practiced with the Shughart Thomson firm.
Keith was a competitive figure skater and was the Southwest Junior Men's champion in his younger years. As an adult he was a member of the Carriage Club where he enjoyed playing tennis.
Keith is survived by his mother, Louise C. Averill of Mission Hills, KS; his sister, Allison Averill Read of Stuart, FL; a nephew and a niece. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be sent to Pembroke Hill School, 400 West 51st Street, Kansas City, Missouri.
A Family Viewing and Visitation will occur Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
A graveside service will occur Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
