Kayla Michelle Schranz, 23, passed away October 1st, 2016, with her family by her side. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri and lived most of her life in Overland Park, Kansas. She graduated from Blue Valley West High School in 2011, and then went on to attend Pittsburg State.
Kayla was a friend to all. Strong-willed and fiercely protective of those she loved, she accepted people for who they were and showed kindness to everyone. She gave the world’s best hugs and could make anyone laugh. As she took the world by storm, she impacted everyone she met and changed the lives of many people. Kayla especially loved the Chiefs, high-tops, and Tech N9ne.
She is survived by her mother, Jenny Schranz; her father and step-mother, Eric and Katie Schranz; her sister, Sydney, and her brother, Ethan; her maternal grandparents, Rick and Mary Schindler; her paternal grandparents, Pam Siglar and Steven Schranz; her aunts, Susie Ostrowski and Brooke Klein; her uncles, Mike Schindler, Andy Schindler, Steve Schranz, and Aaron Siglar-Livingston; and numerous cousins.
The visitation will be held on October 7th at 9:30 A.M., at St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131, with the funeral immediately following at 10:30 A.M. She will be buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Kayla was taken from us too soon, but we take comfort in knowing she is free from the pain and struggle of addiction.
