Katherine Lynette Birks

Kathy was born in Kansas City Missouri and graduated from Paseo High School. Kathy went on to get her license in Cosmetology and was a respected cosmetologist in the Kansas City area and absolutely loved her trade! Kathy, who was better known as KIT-KAT, had a smile that attracted everyone to her. Kathy was ready for a conversation with everybody and she just loved meeting people and making new friends. Kathy was also an author and singer.

Kathy loved her brother's children and grandkids; being an auntie to Destinee Birks, Brandon Birks, and Michael Birks Jr. (daughter Aja), and a great auntie to Nathaniel Jones, Ryleigh, Legend and Nyla.

Kathy leaves to mourn her passing her father Michael Bentley, and paternal grandmother Barbara Davis. And foremost, her dear mother Brenda Warren (David), her aunt Sandra Turner (Tammy), uncle Herman Birks Jr. (LaShawn, Elizabeth, Herman III, (Kemisha), uncle Moyeda Birks (Doris), DeeDee, Moyeda Jr.) uncle Ronald Birks (Darlene, Keyona, Barnett) aunt Theresa (Amica), aunt Georgia(Benjamin and Winston (Latra)and her nanna Ola Trulove (sister Teasha Trulove).

She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandmother Mildred Mitchell (GiGi), brother Michael Birks, grandmother Stella Birks, grandfather Herman Birks Sr. and great-nephews Jordan L. Jones and Malik Barbour; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Kathy is asleep now, but Jesus promises "the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment". (John 5:28-29)

A Memorial Visitation for Katherine will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM.
