He leaves his wife Sherralyn of 61 years; three daughters, Stephanie (Steve), Kimberly and Allie “Ace Marie”; three grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and three great great granddaughters; two brothers, Paul Vaughn (Tina) and Rusty Vaughn (Elizabeth); and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Romaine Vaughn; and brother, Timothy Vaughn.
Ace was currently serving as a Pastor of Blue Ridge Community of Christ Church at the time of his passing. Ace and Sherralyn were married at the same church on January 18, 1959. For many years he helped plan and cook Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless, people having no place to go, church members and family.
Ace enjoyed being Santa Claus at Christmas time at the churches annual Christmas party where he passed out stuffed animals and bags of apples and oranges for all the children. He also played Santa for other organizations.
Ace worked with the Jackson County Sheriff Department then transferred to the Jackson County Corrections where he retired in 2002 as an Administrator for Criminal Records. Ace did work security for the physic fairs. Ace also worked with Mecum Auto Auctions where he got to travel after retiring.
Ace was a member of Boy Scouts of America at an early age and continued throughout his adult life. He enjoyed going to scout camp, normally it was just a few days or a week while he was working. Once Ace retired, he actually got to spend a whole summer down there. He was a scoutmaster where he worked with many to help reach Eagle Scout which included his grandsons, Jeremy and Seth. Ace was an Eagle Scout, part of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and Medicine Man. Ace was awarded the Silver Beaver and the Bronze Pelican, two of the highest awards in scouts.
Ace was a member of the Blue Ridge Democratic Club in Kansas City at one time. He still loved talking politics with people and loved and loved having conversations on the subject with his granddaughter Jamie.
Ace became a member of the Knights of Pythias on May 21, 2005 where he worked his way up in a short time. Ace held different offices including Counselor of Command and Grand Chancellor of Missouri.
Ace enjoyed spending time at their lake house at Lake Nehi with Sherralyn, family and friends. Ace also enjoyed deer hunting with his brother Rusty and nephews. He also enjoyed doing Chiefs bets and talking on the phone with his brother, Paul.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and many who called him grandpa.
There will be no services at this time.
