Karen Kay Fox, Raytown, Missouri, passed away February 3, 2016. She was born in Kansas City on June 24, 1941 to Robert E. and Ada C. (Jones) Searcy. She graduated from Topeka High School and attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri and Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Kay retired from St. Luke’s Hospital in 2005 after 21 years as a Patient Account Manager. She loved the hours spent attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, drum line, and school and church activities. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Raytown for 45 years, a past member of the Raytown Historical Society, Raytown Jaycee Wives and American Business Women’s Association. Kay with the support of the Jaycee Wives was responsible for purchasing the first handicapped bus for Raytown students in order to transport them to Delano School. Riding on that bus with the children on their first day of school was one of her favorite memories.
Kay is survived by daughters Kimberly Bierbaum (Curt) of Spring Hill, Kansas and Kelli Jordan (Rob) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and her grandchildren, Sean Schumacher of Olathe, Kansas, Tyler Jordan (Ashley) of Raytown, Kenzi Quigg (Jon) of Anderson, South Carolina, and Cameron Jordan of Lee’s Summit. She is also survived by a brother, R. Keith Searcy (Marce) of Capitola, California, one niece, and several beloved cousins. Kay was preceded in death by her parents and an infant granddaughter, Krysten Kay Schumacher.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9th, at 9:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Raytown, followed by a celebration of her life at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Student Ministry or the Pageant Ministry at Raytown First Baptist Church, 10500 E. 350 Highway, Raytown, Missouri 64138.
