June Marie (Enna) Smith, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away on December 10th, 2024 at the age of 95. June was born July 15, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri to Joe Enna and Corinne (Hentzen) Enna. She grew up in the Westport area and was a member of Guardian Angels parish. June graduated from Guardian Angels Grade School and Loretto High School. She also took art classes at Manual High School and went on to work at Hallmark Cards as an artist.
She married Paul G. Smith on July 16, 1949, at Guardian Angels church. After marrying Paul, she joined Redemptorist Parish. They raised nine children, all of whom went to Redemptorist. June sang in the choir there for 59 years.
She worked at De La Salle Education Center and taught art. June also worked at Genesis High School as an art teacher and secretary before retiring. She attended as many sporting events as she could that her kids and grandkids played. Mom was a great cook and was known for her spaghetti, meatballs, and sauce.
June is predeceased by her loving husband Paul G. Smith; her parents; her identical twin sister, Jean Sweeney; her brother, Dick Enna; her grandson, Kyle Smith; her niece, Carol Sweeney; and her nephew, Rob Sweeney.
June leaves behind her nine children: Terry Carroll (Rich), Donna Crahan (Jim-deceased), Paul V. (Mary Ann), Mary “Dece” O’Connor, David Smith, Mark Smith (Jean), June ”Cis” Thum (John), Joannie Ackland (Richard), Judy Larsen (Bruce-Deceased); as well as twenty-four grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary Lou Enna, five nephews and many cousins and great nieces and nephews.
June’s visitation is Monday, December 16th from 4:00-7:00PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (Redemptorist), 3333 Broadway Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64111. Mass of Resurrection 12:00PM on Tuesday, December 17th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Redemptorist) followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131.
We are thankful for all the compassionate care provided by everyone at Little Sisters of the Poor and Catholic Community Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redemptorist Catholic Church, Little Sisters of the Poor, or Catholic Community Hospice who were instrumental in her care.
