Joyce was born on June 25th, 1939, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Robert and Neita Blackburn. She grew up with three siblings; one brother, Robert Blackburn, and two sisters, Carol Baker and Jane Huffman. Joyce met the love of her life, Edward Baker, at the age of 15, and after a few years of dating, they were married on July 21st, 1959. Joyce and Ed had three children; a beautiful daughter, Brenda Berry (Bret), and two amazing sons, Robert Baker and Burrel Baker (Rhonda). Joyce was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that she loved deeply. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, daughter-in-law, and great-grandson.
Joyce was an amazing woman who loved God, her family, a good margarita, and a nap whenever she could sneak one in. She had a smile that could light up a room and a laugh that was truly contagious. Joyce was a beautiful soul that turned into a beautiful angel who will be extremely missed.
Services for Joyce will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 14th, from 6-8pm. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 15th at 10am.
