Joe Galetti, 78, of Kansas City, MO, passed away December 24, 2017. The son of Joe Jr. and Virginia Galetti, Joe was born September 9, 1939 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1957. Joe married the love of his life, Mary Hutson, in 1963 and they had 4 children, Jennifer, Gina, Mary and Joe.
Joe was hired by the Kansas City, MO Fire Department in 1962 and retired as a captain in December 1994. Joe remained active in the IAFF Local 42 Firefighters Union throughout his retirement. Joe was also an active member of the community throughout his life. His interest in racing and hot dogs led him to Kansas City International Raceway where he owned and ran the concessions at KCIR for two decades. Joe also had a passion for dirt bikes and Taylor Park Colorado. He went on annual Colorado trips with friends and family throughout his life. His many philanthropies include the Salvation Army, planning funerals for fallen firefighters, Unico Scholarship Committee, Florian Foundation member, Working Family Friends board member and fundraising for the Firefighter’s Fountain and the Northland Children’s Fountain. Joe enjoyed his time in the Kansas City Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club and the Roosters Car Club. He also enjoyed his breakfasts at Hy-Vee with his close friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Jr. and Virginia, his sister Patty and his daughter, Gina, for whom Joe and his wife, Mary, established the Gina Galetti Scholarship Fund at the University of Central Missouri upon her unexpected passing in 1987.
Survivors include his wife Mary, daughter Jennifer Ross (Dave), daughter Mary Schmidt (Scott), son Joe Galetti (Linda) and 7 grandchildren, Elizabeth Ross, Jacob Ross, Megan Ross, Grant Schmidt, Katherine Schmidt, Joe Mike Galetti and Tyler Galetti, and his nephews John and Joe Bays and niece Beth Beavers.

Funds will be transferred to the Gina Galetti Scholarsip Fund at the University of Central Missouri.
The visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 29, 2017.
The funeral will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
Both services will be at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1600 MO-291, Liberty, MO 64068.
Burial immediately following service at Resurrection Cemetery.
