John D McCune

John was born on September 27th, 1956, in Leavenworth, Kansas son of Sally B Ohls Klamath Falls Oregon and Donald Lee McCune Kansas City, Kansas.

After high school John enlisted into the United States Army and He valued this service highly and attained the rank of private first class. He also served in the national guard where he received the National defense service medal.

John was a talented drywall finisher and after his military service he joined the union where he worked until his retirement in 2008.

After his retirement he loved to travel, fishing, gardening, riding his Harley Davison and spending time and money on his grandkids.

He is survived by his brothers Donald McCune and Ronald McCune both of Centerview, Missouri, two daughters Kimberly McKay of Conway, Arkansas and Sally McCune Independence, Missouri, two sons Johnathan McCune of Kansas City, Kansas and Joshua McCune of Blue Springs, Missouri and 10 grandchildren Alyssa, Krystian, Niko, Jaydon, of Arkansas, Ethan, Nathan, Nevaeh, Heaven, Phoenix, of Independence, Missouri and Thea.

John was preceded in death by his mother Sally Raines and his father Donald McCune.

A memorial gathering for John will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 East 47th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64133. With a memorial service to follow, at 11:00 AM. Graveside service with military honors will occur Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Missouri Veterans Cemetery @ Higginsville, 20109 Bus, Higginsville, Missouri 64037.
