John “Bud” Henry Fletcher, Jr., 87, North Kansas City, MO, passed away September 10, 2014 at St Luke’s Northland Hospital. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, September 13th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Tri-City Ministries, 4500 Little Blue Parkway, Independence, MO 64057.
John was born February 3, 1927 in Kansas City, MO. He was a 1944 graduate of North Kansas City High School. John served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and later attended the University of Missouri, Columbia. He was employed for 27 years by MoDot working up to a Senior Highway Designer and served as Chairman of the Board of District 4 Highway Credit Union. John was a life-long sportsman, excelling in all athletics including golf, tennis, softball, bowling, swimming, canoeing, fly fishing, diving and was an active water skier up until the age of 80. John was a past president of the Historical Society of North Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Fletcher, Sr and Myrtle Mae (Dearing) Fletcher.
Survivors include his 2 sisters, Ruth Bowman and Mary Miner; and many nieces and nephews.
