John was born on December 24, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. “Jayhawk John” was known by family, friends and colleagues for his wit, integrity, incredible memory and love of KU basketball. John enjoyed a 35-plus year career in telecommunications and was known for his intelligence and dependability by numerous treasured colleagues at AT&T, NuVox Communications, and most recently SureWest. Spending the majority of his life in Kansas City, John had an affinity for Boulevard brews, KU basketball and Sporting Kansas City. An avid runner, John recently completed the San Francisco Half Marathon, Hospital Hill and ran the Head for the Cure 5K last August, two weeks after completing radiation and chemotherapy. John was a true Irishman and possessed a quick wit and way with words that brought friends and family great joy. Above all, John was a loving husband and devoted father. We will dearly miss his trademark smirk and perpetual glint in his eye.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Joseph Feeley and mother, Marian Frances (O’Connor) Feeley. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joyce Ellen (Schadek) Feeley, daughter, Clare (Feeley) Blackwell, son-in-law Kristian William Blackwell, numerous cousins, and many devoted friends.
