John “Larry” Cook, 68, of Kansas City, MO passed away Saturday, 28 October 2023 at Research Medical Center from complications related to colon cancer. A visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, 6 November 2023 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or Samaritan’s Purse (www.samritanspurse.org).
Larry was born 24 May 1955 in Waxahachie, TX and moved to Kansas City in May 1998 where he continued his career in the heating and air conditioning industry by joining Trane HVAC. Larry never met a stranger and did not hesitate to share his love of Chiefs football with anyone around him. He always had a smile on his face and was ready with a joke to make other smile as well. He could often be heard saying, “Ah hell, play some Skynyrd!” when out and about. Larry’s generous spirit could be seen by his love for his wife and family, the way he treated his dogs, and his willingness to help those he cared about when he could.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Cook, and his mother, Jean Cook.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Blessing-Cook; his stepson Craig Blessing of Chicago, IL; his sister Cynthia Alexander of Dallas, TX; his nephew Blake Alexander, his wife Teel, and their children, Hannah and Sophia, of Sallisaw, OK; his niece Tiffany Westerman, her husband Mark and their children Alex and Thomas of Dallas, TX; and his nephew Ryan Alexander, his wife Kelly, and their children Casey, Jemma, and Zeke of Dearborn, MI.
