John Rollin Allen, 83, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services Friday, October 10, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House, 3516 SW Summit Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64111.
John was born November 9, 1930, to Viola Ann (Schenck) and James Rollin Allen in Lawrence, Kansas. He was a graduate of KU, where he ran track and cross country; John was a member of Delta Chi fraternity and was also an avid Jayhawks and Royals fan. John was a recipient of several awards granted by The American Institute of Architects. He served in the United States Navy as lieutenant during The Korean Conflict. John started his career in architecture at Boyle & Wilson, then went on to work many years for The Ramos Group, where he served as vice president, and later retired from ACI Boland Architects in 2008. Above all, John was a devoted husband and father.
John is survived by his wife, Susan Allen, and daughter, Laura (Allen) McClain and husband, Terrell.
