The Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 AM Thursday, July 21, with Visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO; burial will follow services in Resurrection Cemetery.
Jo Ann was born October 7, 1932 to Joseph A. and Anna (Ebeck) Schmidt in Kansas City, MO. She was a graduate from South East High School. In 1951 Jo Ann married William L. Curry. Before Bill’s passing they were married for 43 years. Bill and Jo Ann were parents of two children, William Dennis Curry and Janet (Curry) Woods. Following high school graduation, Jo Ann was employed as an office manager for Youthcraft Coats and Suits and later worked in human resources for Mercantile, The Jones Store. Jo Ann was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians where she held numerous offices including, at the time of her passing, Missouri State President. She was a long-time and active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, serving as Eucharistic Minister, and Vice-President of the Altar and Rosary Society. She Vice-President of the Auxiliary of Our Lady of Mercy Country Home and also served at Bishop Sullivan Center. Jo Ann was a member of the Red Hat Society, multiple book clubs and bunko.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, son, Lieutenant Dennis Curry; two brothers, Larry Schmidt and Richard Schmidt; and grand- nephew, Shaden Samples.
Survivors include daughter, Janet Woods; two grandchildren, Taylor Marie (fiancé Justin Santini) Woods and Gregory Phillip (Elexcia) Woods; sister, Judy (Vince) Cummings; sister-in-laws, Martha Schmidt and Cherie Schmidt Atkins; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and members of her church family.
