Jo Ann Joyce Karlin

Jo Ann Joyce Karlin, 71, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Research Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4101 East 105th Terrace, Kansas City, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, where the Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m.

Jo Ann dedicated her life to family and faith. She was faced with many challenges and took loving care of her husband who had Multiple Sclerosis for 17 years. Jo Ann's joy was her children and grandchildren. Her spunky spirit and stability were a testament to family and friends. Jo Ann's greatest gift to her family was her unconditional love. She was a lifelong, dedicated member of St. Catherine's Parish.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph M. Karlin and daughter, Joyce J. McDowell. She is survived by her children, Tina and Bob Kirwan, Michael and Angela Karlin and Felicia and Ken Kusano; five grandchildren, Nicholes and Desiree Martin, Joseph and Jacob McDowell, Lauren Karlin and Maxwell Kusano; her brother, Clifford and Jalayne Miller.
