Jim Sistrunk, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born on July 1, 1936, in Dill, Oklahoma, Jim lived a full and meaningful life. He was a dedicated reupholster by trade, bringing skill and care to every project he undertook throughout his career.
Jim married the love of his life, Mary Jane, on August 31, 1956, in Wellington, Kansas. Together, they shared many cherished years in Kansas City before moving to Belton, Missouri, in 1990, where they made their home. Jim and Mary Jane were blessed with two children: Janet (Dan) Brandes and Nick (Connie) Sistrunk.
Jim’s legacy continues through his children, their spouses, and family, including his brother, Ralph Sistrunk. He was a proud grandfather to Amber, Rachel, Ashley, and Kyle, and a doting great-grandfather to Wade, Shelby, Maddie, Levi, Waylon, and Dani Jane. His love for his family knew no bounds, and his impact on their lives will be felt for generations.
Jim was known for his warm heart, strong work ethic, and deep commitment to those he loved. He will be remembered fondly for his kindness, his humor, and the many memories he leaves behind.
He is survived by his children, their spouses, his brother, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly. Jim’s family takes comfort in knowing his legacy of love and devotion will endure.

A visitation will be held from 1-2 pm, with service at 2 pm, on Friday, December 20, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee's Summit, MO 64086.
