James “Jim” Owens went home to be with his Lord and Savior September 15, 2022. Jim was born May 21, 1953 to Carter & Agnes Owens. He was a graduate of Raytown South High School. Jim worked 50 years in the grocery business. He ended his career in management working for the Cosentino Family’s Price Chopper. Jim loved his family, everyone was special to him, especially his wife Sheila, her children, his siblings, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and of course, his fur babies. Jim loved being outside working in his yard and visiting with his awesome neighbors, especially Gary and Richard, who always referred to him as Big Jim. Jim was a man of faith. He loved the Lord and his church family. He was always willing to help anyone in need, all you had to do was ask.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Carter and Agnes, and mother-in-law Betty.
He leaves behind his wife Sheila and her children Logan Mathews, Dave (Mel) L’Heureux and their daughter Destany, and Jennifer (David) Maynard and their children Carl, Cayley and Carlie; sister Pam (Phil) Schweisberger, brother John (Mary) Owens, sister Karen Owens; nephew Justin (Cintya) Schweisberger and their children Iko and Adi; nephew Brian (Laura) Schweisberger and their children Carter, Louie and Milo, niece Marla (Ramy) Mosbah and their children Bernie and Leo, niece Suzanne Owens, niece Paige Owens and nephew Adam Owens.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm (Rosary 6pm) on Wednesday, September 21 in McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd Kansas City MO 64145. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, September 22 in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4101 E 105th Terrace Kansas City MO 64137. Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown MO 64138.
