She was born on May 4th, 1977 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Mike Hanrahan and Elaine (Brimer) Hanrahan. Jessica grew up in Lees Summit, Missouri. She graduated from Archbishop O’Hara High School in 1995. After high school she attended Truman State University where she received a BS degree in Nursing. She then began work for St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City – Plaza where she worked for over 20 years as a nurse coordinator.
She married the love of her life, David Kelsey, in 2010, and they have one son, Owen Kelsey, whom she loved dearly, both of whom survive her.
Jessica was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish and was very involved with St. Thomas More School and her son’s education. She enjoyed traveling, college sports, photography, interior design and spending time with her family and friends.
Jessica is also survived by her parents, Mike and Elaine Hanrahan, her sisters, Keri Hanrahan and Sarah Heidesch, Joe Heidesch (husband to Sarah) and their three children, Emma, Brendan and Madeline, as well as many extended family members.
There will be a visitation to celebrate Jessica’s life on Friday, August 30th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. beginning with the Rosary. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, August 31st, at 10:00 a.m., both of which will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 4101 East 105th Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri.
Jessica’s family wishes to thank her oncologist and the other physicians who cared for her during her illness. They are especially thankful to her St. Luke’s family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Metavivor.org, the American Cancer Society of Kansas City, St. Thomas More School, or a charity of one’s choice.
