Jerry Milton Loveland October 11, 1934 - August 21, 2016 JERRY MILTON LOVELAND, will deeply be missed by his family and friends. Jerry was born on October 11, 1934, in Raytown, MO, and died on August 21, 2016, in Raytown, MO, at age 81. Jerry was the youngest child of Linus and Ruth (Harvey) Loveland. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Loveland; his two sons, Wayne and Jerry; and his daughter Linda Rinehart (Brad); as well as eight grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Stephen; and his daughter, Pamela. Jerry grew up in Raytown, MO where he graduated from Raytown High School in 1953. Before he even left high school, he already knew he was going to join the electrical trade. He became a journeyman with IBEW Local 124 in 1958. He worked for several Electrical shops including Great Northern Electric, ECA, and ultimately retired from Mark 1 after 44 years of active service. He received his 60 year service award in November, 2015. Jerry was followed in the trade by his two sons, Jerry and Steve. As a young man, Jerry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Raytown. Later in life, Jerry began attending the Raytown South Restoration Branch church with his wife. Jerry met his wife at the Blue Ridge Roller Rink. After a short courtship, the two married on October 1, 1955. Through his life, Jerry enjoyed many different hobbies. Anything he decided to try and become interested in he became good at by studying the topic and practicing. When his children were young, he took up photography and would sometimes setup a studio in the living room to take pictures. The family would take drives to the plaza and other locations where he would take landscape pictures. The family also enjoyed bicycling, camping, canoeing and the outdoors. Family vacations were spent camping in various parts of Missouri and the country. Jerry and Betty, through the years, have traveled through or visited 30 or more states. They participated in some high school reunion class trips and went on a couple cruises, including the land, air and sea cruise to Alaska. He served as a Scout Master for Troop 322 where his oldest son completed his Eagle Scout Award. Jerry is a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Jerry was also an accomplished woodworker, making several pieces that many of his family members will cherish. Following retirement, he became an avid bicyclist riding. Jerry would spend most days riding - sometimes as many as 50 miles per day. He became involved with the MS150 ride and he rode it 13 years. In addition to the MS 150 ride, he also rode the BAK (Bike Across Kansas) twice, RAGBRAI (The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa), and the Hotter Than Hell ride in Texas. In addition to these rides, he participated in many smaller organized rides locally and joined up with other avid cyclist for weekend rides. He will be missed - as a husband, a companion, a father, a grandfather, a friend, and an adviser. ‘Til we meet again - you will forever be in our hearts and we love you!
