He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Dunkle, his father, George Dunkle, and his brother, David Alan. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted sister, Becky Kitsmiller; his loving daughter, Angie Wyatt, and son-in-law, William “Sly” Wyatt, along with their children, Ozzie, Elvis, Otis, and Neisha. He also leaves behind his step-son, Jason Edge, and his family, as well as numerous friends and loved ones.
Jeff’s life was marked by his passion for music, as he was a talented songwriter whose beautiful compositions will resonate in our hearts forever. He graduated from Raytown South High School in 1969, where he fondly reminisced about his days playing basketball for the legendary Coach Bud Lathrop. He later pursued his education at Creighton University in Omaha on a baseball scholarship before earning his Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Jeff’s professional journey led him to a successful career in industrial tool sales, culminating in a well-deserved retirement, during which he relished in the beauty of sunrises and weekly open mic guitar events with cherished friends.
Jeff was a beacon of light in the lives of those around him, known for his infectious laughter and unwavering positivity. His presence brought joy to those around him, and he had a knack for making friends wherever he went - from the bank to the grocery store to his favorite coffee shop. His daughter, Angie, fondly remembers him as her biggest fan, supporting her endeavors wholeheartedly and instilling in her a sense of independence and confidence. Jeff’s pride and love for his family knew no bounds, and he delighted in his role as a grandfather, always eager to share a song or a laugh with his beloved grandchildren.
Jeff’s sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the cherished memories and shared laughter he leaves behind. A celebration of his remarkable life will be held in the coming weeks, where friends and family will gather to honor his legacy with stories of joy and love. In the meantime, let us remember Jeff’s vibrant spirit and the enduring impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his laughter echo in our hearts for eternity while he’s playing songs for Jesus.
Please feel free to reach out to Angie, Sly, Becky, or Jason, with any memories or stories you would like to share, as we come together to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man.
