Janice Elaine Smith, 85, of Blue Springs, Missouri died on May 13, 2024. Jan was born to Francis M. (Pratt) Eisman and Arnold Eisman on August 3,1938 in Kansas City, Kansas. Jan attended Southwest High School where she met her husband-to-be Samuel K. Smith. They were married on June 22, 1957. They had three children. Jan and Sam were married for 66 years. Jan worked as the bookkeeper in her husband’s piano business. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and caregiver. Jan was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her talents with family and friends. She frequently had requests for her “special recipes”.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband Sam on March 14, 2024. She is survived by her three children Sam Smith, Julie (Larry) Rich, and Bryan Smith. She is also survived by seven granddaughters Amy Rich, Kelly Rich, Cortney (Mike) Turrell, Tiffanie (Jarred) English, Brittnee (Chase) Bryan, Whitnee Smith, and Sydnee Smith. Jan has five great grandchildren. Jan was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Merle Spader, and brother Gene Eisman.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas
City, MO on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 1pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm. In lieu of
flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City.
