Janice Darlene Michael

Janice Darlene Michael (Cruse), 86, a resident of Lee’s Summit, Missouri went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 31, 2024 while in her home and surrounded by the love of her family.

Born Janice Darlene Cruse on February 14, 1938 to Cecil and Ruth (Kitchens) Cruse in Chillicothe, MO. Janice lived in Ludlow, MO as a child and graduated from Mooresville High School in 1956. She married Robert “Bob” Michael on June 22, 1957. She was a devoted mother to her children Daniel and Denise. After raising their children, Janice began her career at Universal Underwriters as an Administrative Assistant, retiring in 1998. Janice and Bob were active members of Swope Park/Grace Point Baptist Church serving faithfully for 62 years. After moving to Lee’s Summit in 2022 they joined First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit.

Janice was given the gift of Hospitality, and focused on loving and caring for others. Only the Lord knows how many people she touched.

Janice, the eldest of 6 children, was preceded in death by both parents and by her brother Bob Cruse and sisters Karen Sue Bedsaul and Shirley Walter, and a half-brother, Charles Cruse. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob, of the home; son, Daniel Michael (Ronda) of Maineville, OH and daughter, Denise O’Dell (Scott) of Kearney, MO; two granddaughters, Rachel Osborne (Justin), Natalie Pottier (Christopher); two grandsons, Terry More and Jared Michael (Lindsey); three step-granddaughters, Nicole O’Dell, Amber Sutton, Kristin O’Dell; beloved great-grandchildren; a brother, John Cruse (Jean Ann) and a sister Dixie Cruse.

Services for Janice will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131 on Monday September 9, 2024 beginning with a Visitation at 10:00 am, Funeral at 11:00 am with burial following in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.

Janice’s family will welcome all friends at a Celebration of Life reception in her honor and memory from 2:00-4:00 pm, Monday, September 9, 2024 at the John Knox Meadows Community Center, 1800 NW O’Brien Road, Lee’s Summit, MO.
