My thoughts and prayers are with Janet, Randy and their family.  Janet was my first cousin, our mothers were sisters and very close!  We spent a lot of our time together when we were kids, however we lost touch over the years with busy lives and our own families.  When Aunt Barbara was in the nursing home at the end of her life, my brother Ron and I went to visit her, and Janet was there.  We were re-connected!  Talked about old times when we were young.  Janet and I talked several times after that on the phone; about our mothers, families, pets and cancer.  She was a great artist, I loved looking at her work!  I respect her for fighting a long battle with cancer.  The treatments and the operations and the waiting.  It has touched all of our lives.

My brother, Bill, and I were very concerned when we learned of Janet's down turn in her battle against cancer.  Bill had been much closer in recent years.  She would often share email and an occasional telephone call.  I had fond memories of Janet from our childhood.  She was the same age as my brother Bill.
 
I've been able to collect these four photos from our time as very young children.  Years later (around 1961), I recall going into Janet's house near 55th and Charlotte Street in KCMO to play with cousin Janet and visit her brothers, Jim and Bob (Bill).  On one of those visits we all went to see West Side Story together. 

I've always thought that Janet resembled Natalie Wood.  I remember being disappointed in high school when my dad counseled about family and how cousins should not become too close.  That was most disappointing because all of my female cousins were beautiful .  Janet was very beautiful inside and out.  Her beauty in her soul shined through throughout her life.

I last spoke with her on the phone when I moved back to Missouri from Arizona.  That was in July of 2018.  We spoke at length.  I regret not having stayed in touch regularly.  Janet's mother (my mother's sister) was like a second mom to my when I was little.  The Scott and Nutt families were very close in the early years.

I've been fervently praying that the Lord would allow Janet to return to His heavenly realm without having to endure the severity of her cancer.  I will always remember the great childhood we enjoyed together.  I pray that we will all be together some day in heaven.  

May the Lord God Jehovah shine His Face upon Janet forever.

Janet was a Dear friend. We spent many happy times together with her and Randy. Janet was very creative with cooking wonderful dinners and Special cakes filled with Love and delicious. We will miss her sense of humor her love for her family and friends. She loved all living creatures and was especially happy when she was at the property in Lone Jack. We will miss her forever,  but even thought she is gone , she will forever be with us in our heart and fond memories. Our condolences to Randy and the Family. Prayers for Peace and Comfort. ❤️

My dear aunt Janet’s passing represents such a great loss as one of the most kind hearted souls I’ve ever known in life.  She came by her kindness naturally from grandma which we both loved to visit often. We would laugh together about the times I would wheel grandma out to the courtyard for some sun shine. The stories grandma told us never got old about the good old days growing up with the Holmes and Truman families. Aunt Janet and I wished we could have recorded the stories for the next generations to hear.  Aunt Janet’s love and kindness makes my soul shine when I think about her.
