Janet Ericha Seaman (Aunt Jan), 95 of Kansas City, MO, passed away Feb. 2nd at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Visitation will be 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb 6 at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, 415 W 13th St, Kansas City, MO, with service at 11 a.m. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral or St. Luke’s Hospice House.
Janet was born on Nov. 25, 1919 in Kansas City, MO to Jacob E. and Florence Irene (Barnard) Klassen. She retired in the actuarial dept. at Business Men’s Assurance Co. As a member of Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Janet was an active member of the Alter Guild. After her retirement, Janet volunteered over 10,000 hours at St. Luke’s Hospital and was 2014 Volunteer of the Year. She had a smile and kind word for everyone that inspired the staff and fellow volunteers. She traveled the world during her second wind in her 70s and 80s.
Besides her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, James Raymond “Ray” Klassen, and her sister, Enola Katherine Chapin. She is survived by five nieces and nephews, Janet Klassen Erwin (Jackson), Barnard Klassen (Kathy), Malinda Klassen Elliott (Dean), Phil Klassen (Cathy), Katie Klassen (Todd Carmichael); eleven great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-niece.
