Born November 15, 1939, in Manhattan, one of six children of Anabelle and Alva Jacobson. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1957. After High School, she married J.L. Johnson with whom she had 3 children. She later worked at Shawnee Mission Medical Center as an Admissions clerk.
In 1973, Jane married Jim McKim, a widower with three young children. They would often load the kids go on sales trips with Jim to western Kansas. In later years, she and Jim took trips to Europe, visited many Presidential museums in the United States, along with trips to their condominium at Lake of the Ozarks. He was her boyfriend and the love of her life.
Jane was an avid reader; the Kansas City Star was her daily read. She often sent obits (that she liked) in her letters. She was an excellent cook, using her skills with her big family. A celebration with McKim’s was “an event”.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James A. McKim, who passed February 6, 2024. She was also preceded by her son, Steven B. Johnson, her daughter-in-law, Penny Johnson, her brothers- Robert and Charles Jacobson, and her parents Anabelle and Alva Jacobson.
Survivors include her son, John L. Johnson and daughter, Jane Renee (Matt) Elbert; stepsons, John A. McKim, James M. (Nancy) McKim, and Thomas R. McKim. Other survivors: three grandsons; Steven Johnson, Ben and Ian McKim, one granddaughter; Ali Johnson and one great-grandson, Sam McKim.
Her siblings include: one brother, Donald (Vicki) Jacobson and 2 sisters: Helen (Gary) Thull, and Marilyn (Delmar) Janovec, along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Jane's Life will take place on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1:00pm at Leawood Presbyterian Church, 2715 West 83rd Street, Leawood, Kansas 66206. She will be interred at Johnson County Memorial Gardens near her husband, Jim. Contributions can be made to St. Judes, [email protected] or to an organization of your choice.
