Jim was born February 16, 1921, in Kansas City, MO to Arthur and Maude Wetsel. He attended Paseo High School followed by the University of Kansas. He was married to Mary Helen Leimert on June 19, 1948 in Kansas City, MO, who preceded him in death on July 16, 2007. Jim served honorably in the US Army as a First Lieutenant in the Signal Corps in both WWII and the Korean conflict. He retired after 40 years of employment as an engineer with SW Bell Telephone. Jim is survived by three daughters: Kathy Perry, Deborah Hutchinson, and Jane Mead, their spouses, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road with a private inurnment of his ashes in the Garden Walk of Memories in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
