James Edward Thrasher, Jr., (Jim) of Kansas City, Missouri passed away March 15, 2013 at North Kansas City Hospital. Jim was born December 5, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to James Edward Thrasher, Sr. and LaVerna Leigh Thrasher.
He graduated from Lawson High School where he excelled at football and went on to serve proudly in the US Marine Corp earning various medals and honors. Jim worked in sales early in his career and went on to enjoy his work at Vatterott College as the Learning Resource Center Manager. An avid fisherman, Jim loved to spend time at the lake with family and friends, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and gladly giving his time to help others.
He is survived by his wife Sandy, his daughters Vickie (Chris) Chancellor and Rebecca Thrasher, step-daughter Stephanie Morley, step-son Chuck Gallagher; grandchildren Avery, Alexis and Chase Chancellor; step-grandchildren Kaela and Keegan Hook-Gallagher and Kaden Morley.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5pm-8pm at McGilley State Line Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:30am at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial, 100 W 26th St. Kansas City, MO 64108.
