Jan and I have been friends and neighbors with Keith and Margie Miller (Marilyn's parents) for over thirty years. We know Marilyn, Alex, and James from visits with Keith and Margie over the years.

God gave us the opportunity to pray with James the day before his passing. James accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord of his life during this time. And out of this opportunity, the entire family also accepted Christ as Savior and allowed the Lord to lead their lives.

Even though there will a time for grieving, you will not be consumed with sorrow as those who have no hope.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. Revelations 21:4

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not of your own doing; it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

James will be greatly missed as he was so loved and admired by all of his friends and colleagues. Looking at the many comments about James and his great love for his family and sincere relationships with so many people, he has left a permanent and positive impact with everyone he met. We love you and you will always have a special place in our hearts.

I am thinking of you both, and am so sorry for the loss of James. I have many great memories of James over the years of knowing your wonderful and kind family. I am grateful to have known him. He will live on through you both, and we will all cherish our memories of him.

I am deeply saddened by the untimely loss of your brilliant and smart husband and father to Alex. His intelligence and wit were truly exceptional, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. I had the honor of meeting James when I consulted at Dun & Bradstreet where he made an incredible professional impact. I got to work for and mentored by James and Marilyn who are leaders and friends I adore so much as champions in my life in all aspects of personal and professional growth. We all last ate together in Denver and I got to enjoy the beauty and warmth of the home and family they’ve built over a lifetime. James, We celebrate your extraordinary life as a husband, father, leader, and dear friend to us all. We miss you and hope you find your true Home in Heaven a peaceful respite from the battle you bravely fought here on Earth. God bless you richly forever.

My heartfelt condolences to Marilyn and Alex. I had the privilege of working with James at Hoover's in the past. More recently, I had the opportunity to reconnect and work with him on a project over the last couple of years while he battled his illness. Throughout this period, I was inspired by James' unwavering strength and resilience under extremely challenging circumstances. In addition to being an exceptional product and marketing leader, James also demonstrated remarkable courage and perseverance. Up until his last days, James generously continued to provide career advice, encouragement, and support to me. It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to James, but I will always be inspired by his strength and determination.

Marilyn and Alex,

I am so sorry to hear about James' passing. We worked together years ago at the NAIC. James was a really good guy, a hard worker, and very dedicated to his profession. We were quite happy to have him on the NAIC IT team. I have some fond memories of James' time at the NAIC, including a particularly funny incident that happened when James' accidentally rear-ended the car of the "big boss" over the entire NAIC. It was a minor incident, and totally an accident, and everyone thought it was hilarious, although James, as you might imagine, was horrified. Please accept my condolences. We've lost one of the good guys. 

Passing along our condolences. When we made the move to Colorado, James and I reconnected after 20 years and introduced me to the hiking trails above Boulder. Our conversations showed zest of life, credentials as a seasoned executive, ability to navigate terrain of trails and life. Above all, love for family took center stage and number one priority. 

I am saddened by his passing but will celebrate his life and legacy by taking to the trails of Boulder and remembering a life full of love, kindness and joy that he shared every day.

Marilyn, Alex, and Family:
I had the pleasure of working closely with James for a few years at DigitalGlobe. I truly appreciated his leadership, advice, and friendship. James played an important role in shepherding my career path, and did so with compassion and wisdom. He was a great visionary… I remember how he would call me on the way into work all fired up to share business ideas he had in the middle of the night. I remember how he would speak with such pride about his son Alex, and with admiration for his wife Marilyn. And, I remember how we spent maybe a little too much time talking football, and about his fantasy team, and of course about his beloved 49ers. Thank you for the memories James, you will be missed.

When I worked at true technologies, with James, when he was the CMO, we had an EVP of sales, who always tried to get James to do all these crazy things. James would always step back and tell Jim are EVP sales that just makes no sense and we should look at it at a different lens and we should approach it in a different way. It was always so funny, because 90% of the time , James was right and Jim our EVP of sales, was just wrong. I always knew that, James was one of those unique marketing people, that got it!  Learned a lot from James, enjoyed his company, and his sense of humor. I’m truly blessed to have known him.

Dear Marilyn and Alex,

Although you may not remember me, I want to tell you that I was very fond of James, my former boss at D&B. I have always been grateful for the trust he put in me and have tried to follow his example in many aspects of my career as a marketing executive. My journey with James spanned over a decade and a half, a time full of laughter, engaging conversations, memorable evenings, and telephone calls that could stretch on for hours. Those are memories that I will forever hold dear. Our connection extended beyond colleagues;  we forged a deep bond of friendship, always there for each other to lend an empathetic ear, whether to work out a problem or for epic rants. 

During the past three years, your resilience deeply inspired me as you battled illness. Your unwavering optimism and philosophical outlook were a testament to your strength and wisdom.

It seems impossible to imagine you gone. I miss you so much already, my friend.

I was so taken aback when I learned of James’s death.  I worked for James several times in my career.  He was a terrific boss.  

Always, James was a larger-than-life figure, very gifted in his roles,but never taking himself too seriously.  

He built great teams, providing guidance when asked, otherwise letting people do what they were hired to do - a rarity these days.

I hope his family finds solace in their memories.

I have had the pleasure of knowing James and his family since 2006. James was an amazing dad and husband and a great friend to me.  I always enjoyed his sense of humor and admired his work ethic. One of the smartest people I knew balanced with incredible wisdom.  When I was at a low point in my career James was there to help me out. He changed my life in a way he never knew and for that I will be forever grateful.  

I will miss James very much but his memory will keep me smiley.  People like James are rare and I was blessed to have known him.

I was so saddened to hear the news about James. I had the pleasure of working for James at 3 different companies over the past 15 years. He was smart, fun to be around, always supported me and was a great mentor and champion throughout my career.  Marilyn and Alex - he spoke of you both often, his love for you was evident and he was so proud of you both. One of my early memories of James was working for him at Hoover’s. My team had teased him and told him he looked like Neil Diamond- so James took us for a karaoke team building and sang Sweet Caroline and everyone went crazy. He never took himself too seriously and was just a genuinely nice and caring person. My heart aches for you, such a huge loss. 

I had the privilege to work with and for James at 3 different companies over the years, starting in the early 90s and as recent as 2022.  He was smart, dedicated, innovative and always fun to be around.  Most important, he was genuinely a great person.  It was obvious that he loved Marilyn and Alex and was very proud of both.  I will miss him send my condolences to his family.  The world is a better place because of James.  

I'm so very sorry to hear about James's passing. I worked for him at Bardavon for about a year, and he was a supportive and compassionate manager, and really gave his all to the team and company. My thoughts go out to his family and loved ones.
