James Robert Powell

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, KC, MO 64133. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Jim was born on June 26, 1955 in Gardner, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorene Powell; as well as sister’s, Ruth, Karen, and Kathy. He is survived by his wife, Janice; four children, Stacey of Webb City, Chris (Jeannette) of Raytown, Jason (Kelly) of Peculiar, and Raymond of Kansas City; five grandchildren: Britny (Tom), Jesse (Alexandra), Garrett, Jacob, and Katelin; and eight great grandchildren; as well as brother, Jack (Judy) of Clarksburg and sister, Francie of Independence.

He was a graduate of Van Horn High School. Jim and Janice started and ran Perfection Concrete for over 30 years, performing high quality work on only his word and a handshake. He provided many family members and friends with jobs when they needed them. Jim enjoyed the company of family and friends. He was a good friend and will be missed.
