The 1960's changed the course of history forever...John F Kennedy was president, the civil rights movement was in full swing, man landed on the moon, and Elvis Presley and Jack Wolff topped the charts. Weighing in at a whopping 10 lb. 6 ounces, Jack arrived in Nassau, Bahamas on July 24, 1961, to Odine and Lillian Wolff. They finally got the boy they wanted, and our world would never be the same!
Jack was over-the-top in every way, super-sized with unlimited energy, drive and work ethic, and his passion for God and helping others was evident every day. As president of the CARE People program, he gave anyone in need a hand up instead of a handout and he played in many charity golf tournaments to raise money for amputees who couldn't afford prosthetic legs. When the church or a neighbor needed help with projects and repairs, he wouldn't hesitate, even when he was tired from working long hours at his regular job.
At age 18, Jack decided the horrific accident which nearly took his life wasn't going to disable his heart and mind, so he set out to master anything he tried including operating heavy equipment, carpentry, golf, furniture making and many other things a person with the kind of injury he suffered from a 3-ton boiler landing on him after a 30 ft fall shouldn't be able to do. We are sure all the local Chinese restaurants and LC's BBQ will struggle to make it now that he's gone as well. It was his mission to singlehandedly keep them in business by eating there as many times a week as he could!
Pulling a prank on anyone gullible enough to believe it was one of Jack's talents and he could be quite the rascal. His mom almost had a heart attack when she discovered the mustaches and horns, he drew on the expensive silhouette pictures she had commissioned of him and his sisters. He loved showing inquisitive little kids the air-brushed shark on his prosthetic leg positioned perfectly to appear it bit his leg off. It amused him to hear the excitement in their voice as they told their parents what happened to his leg.
Seriously though, two constants remained throughout Jack's life...his love of God and his wonderful wife Tonya who gave him two beautiful daughters and his new joy, grand baby Lily Jo. We believe Jack was welcomed into heaven by his mom Lillian, dad Odine, sister Terry and father-in-law Jim. He will never be forgotten by wife Tonya, daughters Morgan (Colt) Regers, Madison (Matt) Slocum, Lily, mother-in-law Ann Skinner, sisters Sharon (Fred) Pace, Sandy (Arthur) Nelson, sister-in-law Theresa (John) Davis along with is beloved nieces, nephews and so many friends.
Jack was a one of a kind and we don't understand why he left us so soon. We are sure he begged God to let him stay just long enough to walk Morgan down the aisle, but the Lord needed him to take over digging the foundations for the heavenly mansions to be sure the edges were cut just right...and we all know he couldn't pass up a chance to work, especially if he could have overtime.
Hey big guy, we can't wait to see you again and all we ask is that you save a little of mom's yummy strudel for us!
The family is comforted by the outpouring of your love and support during this time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
