Jack Richard Risser, 95 years old, of Overland Park, KS passed away on January 31, 2015 at the Forum. Jack Richard Risser, the son of Ralph and Edith Risser, was born June 15, 1919 in Tulsa, OK. He spent most of his life in Kansas City graduating from Paseo High School and attended the University of Kansas City. He was President of the freshman class and listed in Who’s Who among university students. He later joined the US Air Corps as a 1st Lieutenant and served in World War II. He left the military as a Captain to become a buyer of men’s clothing for Rothchild Department Store. He became Vice President of Burrill, Inc. and sales manager for A. Oppenhiemier Co. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and playing golf with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his wife Adella Marie Risser on May 4, 2006; his parents Edith and Ralph Risser and his great grandson Benjamin Eugene Twyman on August 22, 2007.
He is survived by his daughter Linda Ronsick and her husband Gene Ronsick of Overland Park; two granddaughters Laura Twyman and her husband Matt Twyman of Leawood , Karen Taylor and her husband Kelly Taylor of Lenexa. He was blessed with seven great-grandchildren. Surviving grandchildren are Luke Twyman, Trace Taylor, Evan Taylor, Caleb Twyman, Hope Twyman and Joshua Twyman. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Mary Jane Lilly of Raytown, a nephew Larry Swinney and niece Luanne Fliss of Raytown.
Private graveside service will be held in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations in Jack Risser’s name made to the Benjamin E. Twyman Memorial Fund, in care of Children’s Mercy Hospital at 2401 Gilham Rd., Kansas City, MO 64108
