Arnold Darrah, 96, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice House. He was born December 11, 1919 to Charles Herbert Darrah and Helen Evangeline Darrah Hardy in Kansas City, Missouri.
After graduating from Central High School, where he lettered in baseball and became an Eagle Scout, he entered WWII. While in the Army, he served tours in Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg, Ardennes and France where he was decorated with the Bronze Star. After discharge, he met Mary Louise Heim of Leavenworth, Kansas. They married June 2, 1946. He continued working as an engineer with SW Bell Telephone Company for 38 years until he retired to care for his beloved Mary Louise. Arnold and Mary Louise moved to Prairie Village in 1949 where he remained for 62 years as an original owner. Poor health forced his move to Overland Park Place and later Bickford of Overland Park.
He loved his family, home, and his country. Left to love and remember his wit and charm are daughter, Bev and son-in-law Tom Conway of Overland Park, beloved grandson, Mike and his wife Sabrina Conway of Prairie Village, and two adoring great-grandchildren James (6) and Kate Conway (4). We will always cherish and miss you, gentle and caring man.
Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Chapel, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Private burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
