Harold Dee Harris, 79, Kansas City, MO passed away February 1, 2015 at Liberty Hospital. Funeral services are 2:00 PM Wednesday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO. Visitation with the family is scheduled from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association.
Harold was born September 21, 1935 in Grassy, MO. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. In the Air Force he worked as a hydraulic mechanic and served his nation living in Morocco (Africa), Little Rock, AR, and Knoxville, TN. Following the service he was employed for a short time for TWA and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years. Harold was a devoted fan of the KC Royals. He also loved the outdoors and wildlife as well as woodworking making pens and refinishing furniture. Harold also loved western movies and greatly enjoyed watching The Three Stooges. Some of his favorite movies were National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and O Brother Where Art Thou.
Harold is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret; son, Dennis Harris; and daughter, Taina Shields; 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah, Emily and Hannah; and 4 great grandchildren, Harper, Warren, Owen and Kendall. He is also survived by his two brothers, David Harris and Bob Harris.
