Gloria Marie Moore, 85, of Leawood, Kansas was called home by her Lord and Savior on November 08, 2012. Born on April 18, 1927 in Ottawa, Kansas to Hattie Berry and Carl Bruner, she spent her childhood in Leavenworth, Kansas, later moving to Wakarusa. She graduated in 1945 from Washburn Rural High School in Topeka. On September 30, 1945, she married Naval ARM2C George Jeffrey (“Jeff”) Moore. Following World War II, she devoted herself to ensuring her husband’s completion of his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Kansas. In 1952, they moved to Olathe, Kansas. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, she sang in the choir. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star and KC Saint Andrews Society. As a member of the Santa Fe Trail Council of Girl Scouting, she was a Scout Leader, Leader Trainer, Camp Director, and Member of the Council Camping Committee. In 1977, she and Jeff moved to Leawood. While her main focus was on family, she was also known for her strong friendship, volunteerism, passion for fly-fishing in her beloved Rocky Mountains, God’s hand in nature, love for her dogs, and most definitely her joy of life and sense of humor. She is survived by her husband Jeff and daughter Sandra Poland (Steven) of Severna Park, Maryland; two grandchildren: Bryce Poland (Kristin) of Monroe, Connecticut; and Lindsey Poland of Syracuse, New York; and two great-grandchildren: Ethan Henri Poland and Alexander Jeffrey Poland. She leaves behind countless dear friends and loved ones whom she so deeply treasured. A Remembrance Celebration will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
