Glenn Reed Wilson

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 15 at Pleasant Grove Bible Church, 4916 Lees Summit Road, Kansas City, MO 64138 from 9:00-11:00 am with a celebration of life service to immediately follow.

Glenn was born on February 3, 1926, in Grimes Iowa to Lloyd Rittgers Wilson and Allie Blanch (Reed) Wilson. Glenn graduated from Perry High School May 1944 and immediately began serving within the US Army Air Corps. Following the end of the war, Glenn came to Kansas City on the GI bill to attend school. He met Elaine and they married in 1948. The early years of Glenn’s career were during the pioneer days of radio and television. Eventually Glenn’s career brought him back to Kansas City in 1967 to work at KU Medical Center until his retirement in 1990.

Glenn was a long-time member of Pleasant Grove Bible Church where he installed and ran the church sound system for 25 years, Glenn could be found upstairs in the sound booth every Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday night.

Glenn loved his wife Elaine (Snyder) Wilson and they would have celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary this November. Glenn and Elaine had 5 children, Linda Louise, Douglas Alan, James Reed, Kenneth Dale and Dianne Elaine. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Allie; his sisters Madeleine Wickwire and Daisy Pietzman; brothers Gilbert and Herbert; along with 2 of his and Elaine’s children Linda and James; and his great granddaughter Abigail Wilson. Glenn leaves behind his wife Elaine Wilson, son Doug Wilson and wife Susan (Crow) Wilson, Ken Wilson and wife Joi (Maddox) Wilson, Dianne (Wilson) Driver and husband Derrell Driver, 7 amazing grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Pleasant Grove Bible Church or the American Cancer Society.

A visitation for Glenn will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Bible Church, 4916 Lees Summit Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4916 Lees Summit Rd, Kansas City, MO 64136. A graveside service will occur Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
