Glenn Lloyd Burnam, 71, passed away on January 13, 2022, after bravely fighting a long illness. Also known as “Tuff” to his family, Glenn was born, the older of twins, in Great Bend, Kansas on October 5, 1950, to parents Ila Fern (Drury) and Lester Burnam. He and his devoted wife, Judy (Schaffer), were married for 48 years and resided in many places – Wichita, KS; Little Rock, AR; Oklahoma City, OK; and since 2001 Kansas City, MO.
A man of numerous interests, Glenn was always involved in something – strumming the guitar, building and remodeling things at home, building and driving race cars with his sons, creating a distillery, bird hunting, building a boat, and spending much time with his family at lakes, waterskiing and fishing. . This past summer the family enjoyed a fun week with Glenn on the water. Glenn was a lifelong Vikings fan and became a Chiefs fan after relocating to KCMO. On his bucket list were getting a bird dog and skydiving, both of which he achieved. He and his dog Lucy enjoyed pheasant hunting this past year. Glenn did not let his illness define him and continued to enjoy life with his wife, family, and friends.
Anyone who knew Glenn knew of his love of cars - if it had a motor, Glenn tinkered on it. A truck driver for many years, Glenn was described by his son, Jamie, as a wonder in a big rig, being able to “bang the gears clutchless.” Glenn also became an instructor to those wanting to pursue a career as a Truck Driver.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife Judy, his twin brother Lynn (Jeannie) of Wichita, KS, his son Daryl (Shelly) of Independence, MO, and son Jamie of the home, his grandchildren – Renee, Bailey, Dustin, Darion, Sierra, and Kaydence - his brother-in-law, Mike Gallenberger, nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Ila Fern and Lester, a brother, Curtis; a sister, Linda Gallenberger; and his sons Kevin and Brent.
Family and friends are invited to the Gladstone Community Center located at 6901 N Holmes, Gladstone MO 64118, on Saturday, February 5, 12:00pm to 2:00pm, to reminisce and honor the life of Glenn. In lieu of flowers donations to the Amyloidosis Foundation or American Heart Association.
