Geraldine Fay Owen, 97, Kansas City, MO, passed away May 18, 2021 at home with her family by her side. She was born June 4, 1923 in Kansas City, KS to Hans and Lillian Hansen. She graduated from Wyandotte High School. She excelled at playing tennis in high school. She worked for 2 years at Swift & Company where she met her husband Robert Glen Owen. They were married January 31, 1943. She became a homemaker and raised 5 children. She dedicated many years being a loving and devoted mother. During this time she enjoyed going camping, being in a bridge club and twin h club. Bob and Jerry were married 66 years. As her children got older, she was able to spend more time doing the things she loved which was going dancing. She also loved going to the Lake of the Ozarks. She was a member of American Legion Post 21 and Elks Chapter #26, where she was an avid Bunco player. Before she lost her husband she was very active in Ararat Shrine Club, Lotawana and Grandview Shrine clubs and Ballroom Dance club. She was a member of the Raytown Christian Church.
She is survived by her children Charles (Joyce) Owen, Roeland Park, KS; Susan (Jim) Buck, Rapid City, SD; Barbara (Gene) Crabtree, Warrensburg, MO; Jim Owen, Kansas City, MO; Debbie (Glenn) Johnston, Kingsville, MO; grandchildren Jennifer (Andy) Chappell, Leslie (Jon) Korte, Darren (Lori) Buck, David (Kandi) Buck, Kim (Mike) Van Loan, Michael Crabtree, Sarah Owen, Matthew Owen; great grandchildren, Kourtland Smith, Connor Smith, Karsyn Smith, Charlie Korte, Rosebelle Korte, McKenzie Buck, Morgan Buck, Mattie Buck, Courtney (Daniel) Chapman, Kaylin Buck, Tori Buck, Ella Van Loan, and Bridger Van Loan; one niece Candy Hansen; three nephews Will Lunn, Steve Hansen, Billy Hansen and special friend Candes Owen.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Bill Hansen and Harold Hansen, sister Joy Clouse and granddaughter Jana Crabtree.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 4 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. KCMO followed immediately by a memorial service & graveside service. A get together will be held at American Legion Post 21, 16701 E. US Hwy 40, Independence, MO after the services.
