Geraldine Hergins, 83 of Kansas City, MO, died on June 26, 2016 surrounded by family at St. Luke’s East Hospital. Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. on Friday, July 1 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood, KCMO, and service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.
Geraldine was born Nov. 24, 1932 in Atlanta, GA to Albert & Inez Hill. She retired as a cook from the KCMO School District. Geraldine loved to sing “Happy Birthday”, loved baking, and showed love to everyone she met. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Homer N. Hergins Sr.; her parents; a brother, Eugene K. Hill; and a son, Charles M. Bailey. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Brenda J. Williams, Homer N. Hergins, Jr. (Terri), Lattina Y. Hergins, Kenneth N. Hergins, Sr., Trejuanna C. Guy, Geri L. Forte (David); 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
